Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a Japanese form of bodywork and energy therapy that has its roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), particularly the Five Element theory and the meridian system, a network of energy channels that connect body, mind, and spirit. Yet Shiatsu is far more than a classical modality. Over time, it has evolved into a rich, integrative healing art that draws from a variety of traditions.

Modern Shiatsu weaves together Eastern philosophy, Western anatomy, manual techniques from Osteopathy, and psychosomatic insight to offer a truly holistic and contemporary form of healing. In this way, it bridges the wisdom of ancient healing systems with a deep understanding of modern psychological and physiological processes.

At its heart, Shiatsu is founded on the understanding that the body and mind are one interconnected whole. The body is seen as a living mirror of the soul, a map through which inner imbalances can be perceived, understood, and gently brought into motion. The physical state of the body, including that of the organs and tissues, is always in dialogue with the emotional and mental landscape of the individual.

In a Shiatsu session, we work primarily through conscious, mindful touch along the meridians, the energy pathways of the body. By stimulating these channels, we can support and harmonize the internal organs, dissolve energetic stagnation, and restore the natural flow of life force (Qi). This has direct effects not only on vitality and emotional well-being but also on the structural integrity of the body.

Shiatsu also acts on the musculoskeletal system: misalignments can be corrected, joints gently mobilized, and deep muscular tension released. The practitioner uses a variety of techniques, including pressure with thumbs, palms, elbows, and knees, as well as gentle stretches and rotations, to support the body's natural ability to return to balance.

Before each session, the energetic state of the organs is carefully assessed through pulse, abdominal, and meridian diagnosis, as well as intuitive sensing. This allows the treatment to be individually tailored to restore balance, release blockages, and harmonize both the physical and emotional systems.

Shiatsu can be used to treat a wide range of conditions such as digestive issues, menstrual problems, organ related issues, lung disorders, digestion problems, ischiatica, storke and neurological rehabilitation, fatigue, anxiety, sleep disturbances, chronic pain, and more. At the same time, it is highly effective for structural issues like back pain, joint stiffness, posture imbalances, and muscular tension.

Through its gentle yet powerful approach, Shiatsu activates your body’s innate healing intelligence and supports a deep reconnection to your true Self.
